Rogues Gallery
The
Free Money Resource Rogues Gallery
lists those schemes which appear to be scams, have acted suspiciously or
have acted in a way that has displeased us. We
do not like adding sites to this list and consider each case very
carefully before we do. If you have any comments regarding this issue
please contact us here.
We also have a list of unsustainable sites
on this page.

Surf Junky

We have taken the rather unusual step of marking Surf Junky a scam without even joining it. The reason for this is that there is so much out there suggesting this is a scam that we have to believe it, just do a search for "SurfJunky scam". Another good reason is that it is a Paid to Surf site and we have yet to find a legitimate one of those. Basically this is like Spedia all over again. When you reach payout it is claimed that you have been cheating and your account is closed. Another good reason to suggest it is a scam is the fact that it is unsustainable when you look at the advertising rates compared to how much they pay. If they did pay they would be making a massive loss which is frankly not feasible. Stay well clear of this one.

As the name suggests you supposedly get $30 per email. Immediately this sounds suspicious and indeed it is. They have a payout of $30000 which at the current rate is achievable within 2-3 years, of course, that is if they are still around at this time. When you look at how much they charge for advertising you can see that this sort of payout level is unachievable. We are led to the conclusion that this site is a scam and should be avoided at all costs.

I am not sure why we have waited so long to do this but we have now officially made PaidEmail.com a scam. It could be that they are just no longer active but the fact that they did not pay us the money we are owed suggests that they are not legitimate. Their website is also still up although we are not sure whether they are taking new members. Anyway, stay clear of this one and tell your friends.

I thnk the Paid to Surf industry is officially dead considering the latest news on the last remaining offering from this genre. Despite gaining many referrals for this scheme (apologies to all those that have joined) we have seen no referral bonuses and response from them as to why. Even more disturbing is that when we installed their "ticker bar" we began to get errors suggesting that someone was trying to send email through our email address. It turns out that the ticker bar hijacks your email address and attempts to bulk mail with it. We are not sure of the legalities of this, the only way we could see it being legal is if the emails are being sent to opt-in mailing lists and we are sure that their terms and conditions cover them being able to use your computer for any reason. Why would they do this? Well the only reason we can think of is that it saves their resources and bandwidth, needless to say we have received no response to our queries regarding this matter.

Paid-Emails did show a lot of promise early on and the minimum payout was reached fairly quickly despite being $25. However, once we had reached this figure, requested payout and waited the 60 days their terms changed to 180+ days. This date then passed and still no payout. None of our emails have been answered on this subject despite having some good contact with the owner early on. This leaves us with the conclusion that this PTR is a potential scam and we would avoid it at all costs.

Paid Email programme that cancelled our account and proceeded to try and defame our site for offering to review their Gold service. This behaviour is unprofessional and unacceptable, we cannot recommend having anything to do with this one.

Unsustainable Sites
There is an alarming new presence in the PTR world, namely sites that are simply
unsustainable.
Usually they offer large amounts per email and have a high payout, when you look at the advertising costs
for these sites you can easily see that they will not be able to pay their members. It is our belief that these
sites will close after a while taking the money earned from advertising with them. In general you should
avoid any site that offers over $1 per email and that has a payout of over $100. All of the sites below
are deemed to be unsustainable and should therefore be avoided.
